Bledsoe Brief #2 – Treat ChatGPT Like a Dojo, not a Dictionary

Most people use ChatGPT like a vending machine.

Punch in a half-baked prompt.
Wait for it to spit out something “good enough.”
Copy. Paste. Move on.

That’s not how I use it.

To me, ChatGPT isn’t a productivity hack.
It’s a dojo.

A place to train how I think.
To strip the noise.
To sharpen my presence.

Earlier this week, I hit friction around a decision in my business.

I caught myself reaching for a quick solution.
Something clean. Logical. “Right.”

But I stopped.

I typed:

“Challenge my assumptions.
Ask me what I might be avoiding.
Reflect the part of me that doesn’t want to look.”

It didn’t give me an answer.
It gave me a mirror.

It asked:

  • “What outcome are you unconsciously protecting?”
  • “Are you optimizing for safety or truth?”
  • “Who benefits from you staying in this indecision?”

That’s not output.
That’s sparring.

How I use ChatGPT differently:

  • I don’t type from panic. I breathe before I prompt.
  • I don’t want final answers. I want better questions.
  • I’m not consuming—I’m co-creating.

This is presence-led prompting.

It’s not about finding the answer.
It’s about finding the part of me that already knows it.

Try this instead of “Write me a post”:

“What’s the real message I’m trying to say?”
“Where am I still performing instead of teaching?”
“What’s missing that would make this land in the body, not just the brain?”

You don’t need AI to sound smarter.
You need it to strip the noise and sharpen what’s true.

If you treat ChatGPT like a tool, it’ll give you tasks.
But if you treat it like a training partner, it’ll sharpen your edge.

Breathe before you prompt.
Speak from presence.
Refine through tension.

That’s how I use it.
